Matthew McDermott

Hi
I am searching for a Matthew McDermott. I know almost nothing about him. In the mid to late 1870's he apparently married Ade Yockey in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, USA. He had a son James Paul McDermott born in Armstrong County in the 1870's who died in 1943. his son was also James Paul McDermott Nov 15, 1910 to dec 29, 1960. He was born in Armstrong Co. and died in Troy, Ohio.
Thanks
Steve.

In reply to the person who is looking for ancestors from Killinkere, Co.Cavan; I am from there and if I can be of any assistance, that would be no problem. There are still McDermotts living in Killinkere.

McDermottroe Info

Hi all

I found the marriage record of my ggrandfather James McDermottroe (c. 1850) and Margaret Breheny m. 9/14/1874 in the parish of Geevagh
on LDS database. I received info from the County Sligo Heritage Society, that James parents were John McDermottroe and Margaret Conry from Cloghmine.
Margaret Breheny's parents were Bernard Breheny and Mary Coen address listed as Curry.

I'm not sure where Curry is, I saw several listed on the Townland database.

Apparently, Margaret and James had another son, that I didn't know about, who must have stayed in Ireland or died before they immigrated to the US in 1896.
His name was Bernard McDermottroe baptized 11/20/1876.

As usual any help would be appreciated!

A Historic Day

Amongst the various promising political moves made yesterday, generally accepted in Ireland as the most Historic day since the founding of the State, was a change in articles 2 and 3 of the Irish Constitution.

The new Article 2, which replaces our divisive claim to the entire territory of the island of Ireland, reads as follows:

"It is the entitlement and birthright of every person born in the island of Ireland, which includes its islands and seas, to be part of the Irish nation. That is also the entitlement of all persons otherwise qualified in accordance with law to be citizens of Ireland. Furthermore, the Irish nation cherishes its special affinity with people of Irish ancestry living abroad who share its cultural identity and heritage."

We of the MacDermot Clan Association here in Ireland hope to play our part, in relation to the last sentence, by our work for the Clan Association and its Website.

Conor MacDermot

McDermotts in Luzerne Co. PA

A large number of McDermott families resided in Luzerne Co. about the time you mentioned. I would suggest that you look in the records of Sacred Heart Parish in Plains, Pa. Plains is about 5 miles from Larksville. It contains records of many McDermotts. Good luck

McDermott's in Larksville, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania

Hi! hoping that someone can help me connect my wife's McDermott ancestors. only info that we have so far is: William McDermott
(b.+-1860 in Pennsylvania) married Mary Mooney in +-1890; listed in the 1910 census in Larksville, Luzerne County,
Pennsylvania; both of Williams parents are listed as being born in Ireland, but i have no other info on them. William and Mary's
children were Mamie, Lala, William (b.1892), Edward (b.1893), Joseph (b.1895), Vincent Joseph (b.11/16/1897) and Bernadette
(b.1901).

Hoping that someone can help me connect them! would appreciate any help, or other places that i can look for information. (my
next step is earlier census records).

thanks!
