Help

I am trying to trace Monica Mulrooney (formerly Skelly).

She was the bridesmaid of my mother in law Olive Brown (Larkin) 50 years ago and I would like to invite her and her spouse to a surprise 50th Wedding Anniversary on 7th Jan 2000.

Can anyone help?

Looking for information about McDermott Clan

Hello McDermott Clan,

My name is James (Jim) McDermott and I’ve been interested in finding out more about our Clan. My Grandfather’s name was Thomas A. McDermott, born 1897, who immigrated to the USA in the early 1900’s. My Great Grandfathers name was John McDermott and my Great Grandmother’s maiden name was Anne Devaney. I welcome information to history and information to prior generations.

1999 Clan Gathering

Our sincere thanks to all those who attended the recent
Gathering in Boyle. We hope that you all enjoyed yourselves
and that you made many new friends. We certainly did. We look
forward to seeing you back in Boyle for the next Clan Gathering
in 2002.

A permanent record of the 1999 Gathering will be prepared soon
for the Website. Should any of you be inclined to put pen to
paper we would love to include your personal account of the
Gathering in the review.

Photographs are most welcome.

If anyone recorded the Gathering on Video we would love to
receive a copy too.

Furthermore we will undertake a revamp of the Web Site, specifically the
Home Page, Notice Board and Shop.

The Home Page will be simplified with fewer headings.

The Notice Board will be upgraded with a threaded message system
for more efficient use.

The Shop (as well as other facilities which require payment)
will be credit card enabled to allow ease of payment. More items
will be added (T shirts/baseball caps/pins/badges etc).

A new statement regarding the purpose and function of our Clan
will also shortly appear.

Thank you all for making the 1999 MacDermot Gathering such a
huge success. Without you it would not have been possible.

With all our very best wishes for the future

Rory MacDermot
Tanaiste

Wonderful Time at the MacDermot Reunion

It has been a week already and we wish we were back there getting ready for the March of the Clans. I would love to be a fly on the wall at any of the O'Donell clans' homes who attended the reinactment. What words they must be saying!!! I must say the pride that swelled in me as we were marching in was a feeling I will not soon forget. My apologies to Father(er I mean Connor)for making him apart of the priesthood and also that weird question about the "rats".
We would like you ALL to know how blessed we feel to have been apart of such a fantastic clan. We can't wait for the next gathering of the McDermott clan!!
Godspeed to you all, Bob & Chris McDermott

Thanks!

Betty and I arrived home yesterday evening and we can't stop talking about the wonderful time we had at the Gathering. From the "slight incline walk (sorry Connor), meeting new relatives at the banquet, to the March of the Clans we enjoyed each and every minute. Thanks goes to The MacDermot's and all their hard work. We look forward to the next one. May it be sooner than later.

To all Darmodys

Is there anybody out there who could help me to trace back our ancestors from Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. My information goes back only to 1800s. All the male line were/are called John Darmody. And: How could I find out whether we are connected to MacDermot clan?
Thank you for your help.
Merike
P.S. Last year one John Darmody died in Nenagh. He was known for setting up World Aid and finding support from a number of well-known figures in Ireland and abroad.

John McDermott

In 1894, my great-grandfather died in Boston. He left a widow (Margaret Meloy Durkin) and three children (James, Thomas, and Annie?). Subsequently, Margaret remarried to a John McDermott, and had two children named Peter and Margaret. This last sentence is based on oral history from a deceased family member. I would certainly appreciate hearing from any decendent who can furnish any more information.
Thanks,

Jim Durkin

To all McDermotts regardless of spelling

I am anxious to trace details of my great grandfather,Hugh McDermott who married Anne Boyle in Carrick on Shannon,
Ireland,1872.
There is a more recent family connection in the Drumshanbo,
Boyle/Ballaghadreen regions in Ireland. This connection of McDermotts is linked to the Berwick,Gallagher and Boyle families in the Drumshanbo area, all buried in the local graveyard.
Any information, however small, would be greatly appreciated as I have reached a dead end in my search.
Also if there are any Mulrooneys out there please get in touch, via this email address.

Just getting started

I am just starting to do research and have little to go on. My husband (a Burke of County Mayo ) and I will be travelling to Ireland next summer and I would like to know more about my family. Unfortunately I am the last in a line of O'Reillys and McDermotts with a few Swifts mixed in.
My Grandpa's name was Bob McDermott, wife, Catherine Riley. I believe they were married in Washington.D.C. or Miami Florida. They had a daughter, Catherine, My mom. Not much I know, but that is all I have. My grandmother, Cate, was originally from Atlanta Ga. So there....can anybody help?

In reply to: S.W.Wisconsin McDermotts

Northern Wisconsin Connection?

Do you have any connections to a Michael B.McDermott b.1859 or 1864? His wife was Ettie or Etta Steele and their children were William H.(my grandfather)b.1886 in WI.d.1/3/37 in Phelps, WI., John M. b.1890 d.1950, Ira B. b.1895 and Ray b.1898. All lived and worked in the lumber and/or guide business in these towns: Arbor Vita, Phelps, Hazelhurst, Eagle River and Wausau. If you think there is even a slight possibility of a match please write back. My wife and I are going to the McDermott Clan reunion in Boyle, Co. Roscommom, Ireland next week and would be very happy to have made some connection back to the "auld sod". Thanks, Bob"MAC"McDermott
