I am looking for any info on Bill Jr. McDermott who married a Styles. They
lived in Kentucky in mid to late 1850's. Bill's wife died and he left for
Arkansas with another woman and left behind six children, believe to have
been raised by friends or family. If anyone has any info on the Kentucky
children or Bill Jr. after he arrived in Arkansas, it would be greatly
appreciated. It is thought that he may have taken the woman's last name after
arriving in Ark. Bill Jr. had a brother Bernard Emmett who also lived in
Kentucky.

I put the following death index from IL McDermott surname only (1916-1938)to
a file for anyone researching IL McDermotts.
Gives name, date of death, city and death certificate number. If interested

in military or married, how long in US, cemetery
and person who notified health authorities (usually a next of kin).

This statement is recorded in my family history:
"Mark McDermott was born in County Leitrim, Ireland, in 1810. He was employed
as an overseer on the estate of Lady McNamara. He married Mary McDermott,
who was not related despite the same name. When their oldest child, Bridgett,
was 2 years old, they came to the United States and settled in Dubuque, Iowa.
Eventually, they moved to a farm in Cherokee Co, Iowa."
We have complete listing of off spring of that marriage, but want to go back
to Ireland and know more. Can anyone help?
