We would like to remind all those who intend to attend the
Gathering in Boyle next August that a programme of events and
booking form is now available online. Go to MacDermot Home Page
and click on "1999 Reunion".
Look forward to seeing you there.

A crude study of the data received reveals two interesting
details relating to the most popular areas of our Website.
Firstly that almost ONE THIRD of all visitors stop off at
the Notice Board and secondly that MORE THAN 20% visit the
Trees section. Whilst this is an interesting statistic in
itself it also reveals that most site use would be non-contributory:
Whilst the spectator will always outnumber the participant in
any activity we would ask more of you to consider submitting
notices for the notice board and family trees for inclusion
in the archive.
We would specifically urge all current members of the Clan Association
to submit their own family tree for inclusion.
We look forward to hearing from you.

I am trying to find any descendants of a Miles MacDermot , who,s parents
were Andrew MacDermot & Sarah McNab (taken from the book MacDermot of
Moylurg.
From the book , it looks as if Miles had 10 children , one of the sons was
called Joseph Rodrique (b 1884) and was married to a May McCaig. They had
a son John Andrew Miles(b 1920) , who in tern had a son called Donald Allan
( of Winnipeg) , it is this family that I would like to trace , so I can
fill in the next section of the family tree. If any clan member has any
information I would be greatful.
I am still looking for information about Andrew,s family , so I would like
any information , I have the family tree taken from the above book , but
there must be a lot more blood clan members out there who are not in the
book.
For info , I use Version 5 of the Family Tree Maker , so I could take email
with regards this software.
I thank any member in advance for any help.
Yours MLD CHEESLEY.

on June 8, 1868 in Port Glasgow, Scotland. She died in America on Feb 21,
1917. Any information would be helpful.

The AP story, Ballykilcline Blood by Helen O'Neill, was sent on the AP wire
to newspaper for use. I have been told it was on the New York Times Internet
posting on Aug. 2,1999. The home page listing the three McDermott family
groups was not in the story. Please see the 'link' on the MacDermot Home
page section or go to www.Ballykilcline.com

In reply to: Maureen Humphreys
Maureen, It was a great article and I read it in the
Columbus Dispatch, here in Columbus, Ohio. In fact, it was
in the Sunday edition and took a full page, including a
fine picture of yourself. I hope the AP does a follow up
down the road on the "Lost Children of Ballykilcline."

As indicated in the library article "To be MacDermot or not to be MacDermot",
the MacDermots Roe were patrons of the famous harpist and composer Turlough
O'Carolan (1670-1738). An outstanding new web site features a complete listing
of Carolan's music and selections that can be heard on line, as well as,
biographical information. The Carolan home page is found at
www.epix.net/~lesley/carolan.html.

I am very interested in hearing about this, particularly is you can keep
it under $2,000!!!
Let me know the details when finalized.

The Ellen McDermott I have information on may be yours! Ellen was born 12/1834
Co. Roscommon, Kilglas parish, Townland of Ballykilcline. There is a photo
of her taken in the US about 1859 on the Ballykilcline.com home page under
the emigrants section. The story is my papers from 1860's say she 'had the
voice' for a song. There are 3 Ellens listed in the 3 McDermott families,
but the date match is closest to Hugh and Eliza's child. Please contact me
directly for more information.

I saw the article in the Arizona Daily Sun 8-2.

I saw the McDermott story in the Internet version of the
New York Times. Very nice indeed. The family legend is that my branch came
from Roscommon County but I have yet to find proof. I hope to post as much
of the tree as I
have soon.
Peace
Steve

If anyone reads the AP story regarding the McDermott's from Ballykilcline
by Helen O'Neill (AP slug 'Ballykilcline Blood' 8/2/98) please let me know.
I am trying to see what newspapers run it around the US. Leave a message
here or e-mail me direct. With 200 messages already 'in the inbox' from
yesterday's run, I will return your message ASAP. Any one I hear from, looking
for the McDermott surname, I am sending to this board to leave a message
also. Maybe one will help you find your missing branch too. Thanks.
