It has been drawn to my attention that I posted an incorrect email address
in my message re Family Trees. Sorry. This one is correct. .Jo.

I am seeking info on the McDermott family that settled in Peach Bottom twp.,
York,PA about 1847-52. Patrick b.1802, Hugh b. 1810, Constantine b. 1816,and
Margaret who married Constantine Gilday. The above are brothers and sister.
Two other men who lived nearby may be brothers; Cornelius b.1809, and Michael
b. 1820. The tombstones of the above Constantines said that they were born
in Co. Donegal.

I'm looking for information about my mother's mother's
ancestors.
My grandmother's name was Honoria (Nora) Mary McDermott.
She was born in County Mayo in the parish of Kilbeah
in October of 1878.
Her father was Patrick McDermott and her mother was Winifred Frain.
She came to America when she was 16 years old.
She married John Edward Ferrin in Lowell, Massachusetts.
I would appreciate any information about these relatives.
Thanks.

reasonable. (Under $2,000 PP/ DO ) As soon as we have the details we will

have it finalized we will forward it to you.

It seems ages since there were any new family trees planted. I am sure there
are lots of people with partial trees (perhaps with a few branches or twigs
missing) who could plant them for me and other association members to see.
Mine still has some work to be done but it is after all a tree, a growing
thing. I'm sure any new plantings they would be of great interest. So I'd
like to suggest some more forestation on the MacDermot Plantation.

I am trying to connect to any McDermott's that came to the States in the
Black 1847 or there abouts. I am looking for a Michael B. McDermott's familial
link especially. Any info would be respectfully received. Godspeed to you
and yours, Bob"MAC"McDermott. Home address: 2593 Woodridge Ln., Green Bay,

----------------------------------------- The message I just submitted was
typed without my glasses and it looks as if I can't even spell my name!.
At least I got the e-mail correct but wanted to correct my name because it
looked so strange!
----------------------------------------- I have been looking for information
on my grandfather and have finally found him as a 5-year old on the 1880
Ohio census. In doing so, I found that his father was William McDermott who
was born in Ireland (Ihave no idea where) and he had married Mary Ann Doran
in Canada and sometime around 1873-5 moved to Ashtabula Ohio. They had 3
children born in Canada: Thomas, William and Elizabeth. Miles (my grandfather),
Mary, and Margaret, were born in Ohio. This is a breakthrough for me and
now I am looking for great-grandfather William's birthplace in Ireland and
his parents. If this "fits" with anyone else's family, please let me hear
from you.

Is there any local publication on the 1798 Rebellion and Roscommon we can
order from the States? My current issue if History Ireland Summer 1998 lists
'Leitrim and the Croppies' by Gerard Mac Atasney as a local publication for
Co. Leitrim. No listing seems present for Roscommon, however. Please e-mail
me direct and/or leave a message here. A Rebellion and no McDermott's seems
unlikely to me!

Good luck has found five of the ten children that came to the US on 19 Setp.
1847 with Hugh and Eliza McDermott of Ballykilcline, Kilglass parish, Co.
Roscommon. We still are looking for Bernard, born 1820, William, born 1829,
Anne, born 1822, Ellen, born 1834 (have photo of for someone), and Susan,
born 1825. All birth dates could be off by one to two years. All the children
came with parents and were not married at the time. All docked in NY and
should be on the 1850 records only three years older and/or married. Please
contact me if you have one of the people on your tree.

May we advise all those who intend to attend the Clan
Gathering in Boyle next year that a booking form is now
available on this site, accessible directly from the
Home Page. It is advisable to book early in order to ensure
that your accommodation requirements can be adequately met.
We look forward to hearing from you.
