McDermott Humphries I have some conflicting information. My grandfather John
wrote the family history at different times in his life and didn't always
write the same thing. There are also some oral tellings of the story. His
father Michael (my great grandfather)was born in 1) 1820; 2) 1824; 3) was
about 10 years old when he came to America as a cabin boy. He had six brothers
and sisters (he was the youngest), "all born before 1824." All records agree
he came to America in 1848 and married in 1852.
I have information on the birthdates of his children, but that is the best
I can do on his dates.

As Bumlin Parish, Co. Roscommon and Kilglass Parish are next door to each
other in Poor law Union of Strokestown, please e-mail with more dates on
you Michael McDermott.
-----------------------------------------
My Great-great grandfather was Michael (Micky)McDermott. He married a Magan.
He rented 26 acres in Pollymount Townland, Bumlin Parish. He had an uncle
who was a priest. His children were:
Mary Ann (came to America in 1849)
Thomas (married a Miss Hughes and stayed on the family place.)
John (came to America in 1846)
Bridget (came to America in 1846)
Stephen (married Kate Cerak, came to America in 1849)
Anna (moved to England)
Michael (my great grandfather, came to America in 1848; married Rhoda Peckham
in 1852.
Several of them were in Albany, Wisconsin for a time. The Place in Ireland
had been rented by this family for 100 years when my grandfather (John) wrote
what he knew about the family. (His note undated).
I am particularly interested in locating this farm in Ireland and also finding
if I have any relatives in Ireland.

Hi Carol,
By typing
/invite colm@renview.com
in the form entry field, an email is sent to colm@renview.com inviting me
to join you in the MacDermot Clan Room.
It also provides me with the URL or address for the chat room and informs
me of who invited me.
Nothing actually shows up on your screen.
Re your nickname, if you did not use the exit button or quitted your browser
and came back later, it would see you as a new user and would require a new
nickname.
I tried to replicate your errors, but couldn't.
Thanks for the feedback.

In reply to: Chat room Hello Colm, I cannot get the e-mail to work
at the chat
room. I am curious about the nicknames. I chose one, and
it was working fine. Now, when I try to get into the pub,
I receive a message that the nickname is already in use.
Did I forget to check out? Can more than one person have
the same nickname--I didn't think so. The name works fine
in the MacDermot Room. Carol

The more we all post raw information here the further up the family trees
we can go. I hope the person I listed will open a new direction for you to
look.
If the members would only list the family trees too, it would be a big
help!

to the US on the state-aided emigration program. Your message to me from
