corrected e-mail address
Thank you for finding me via the US telephone system. The postmaster assured me today, 4/24, that my new e-mail address is now working. He also promised the same yesterday.
I continue to search for connections for Julia Ann McDermott born June 14, 1854. She married Albert Robbins in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her father was Jno (possibly John) McDermott. Her mother was listed as Eliza Downey.[Reply To Carol Comp:] Ref: 1997-April-#11

Identity of Madam MacDermot
The Madam MacDermot to whom you refer was Caroline, wife of the late Charles Edward MacDermot, Prince of Coolavin, my great grandfather. She was indeed a striking lady although I only knew her as a child when she had already achieved the formidable age of 90. I do not know anything about the letter from Grattan or Parnell, but will make enquiries. I sincerely hope that we will see you back at Coolavin before too long, maybe for the 1999 Gathering. The Name of The Madam MacDermot Late '40's
I grew up in Ballaghaderreen and visited Coolavin often. The Madam and I got to know one another well and she once showed me a letter from either Grattan or Parnell. She was a beautiful white haired woman with wit and charm. I wrote a poem about that moment and dedicated it to her, but only knew her title, not her name. In the early version I used Grattan's name, but later changed it to Parnell. You will find the poem, Revery In A Barber's Chair, at http://www.pipeline.com/~wbmcphil/index.htm in the Ballagaghaderreen book, along with another poem about the estate. I spent many a day on the grounds. I was 17 when I left Ballagh'. Sorry to say I never returned, but then again I never really left. If you can give me the name of my old friend and tell me about the letter, I'd be grateful. This site is a very delightful find.

A New McDermott
My great-grandmother was one Julia Ann McDermott, born 1854, and died 1911 in Philadelphia. She married one Albert Robbins, and they had approximately 23 children. My Grandmother was Myrtle Robbins, and she was the youngest of the family. Julia's father was listed on the death certificate as a Jno McDermott. I have not seen this name before, but I notice that it is listed in the historical society address records also as Jno. Any help or advice welcome.
Thanks,

Flyfisher wanted!
Are there any Clan members or vistors that have information about flyfishing in the Boyle area? My husband and I would like the local facts to plan a trip for the 1999 Clan Gathering. I left my fly rod at home in 1996 and had withdrawal symptoms at the last Clan Gathering. As we teach flytying, I also would like to compare 'notes' with a local person as to what to bring that the trout like in Boyle..
